Recently, I’ve been struggling with digesting a lot of foods, so I needed something that was packed with nutrients, gentle on my stomach, and still tasted good. My daughter suggested a smoothie with pea protein, without all those extra additives that can mess with my gut. She even ordered a sample pack in chocolate flavor, and I was pleasantly surprised—it wasn’t bad at all. When I went to the health food market to pick up the protein powder, I was shocked to see that it was over four times the price of whey protein! While browsing, I stumbled upon pea protein isolate in the bulk section for a fraction of the cost. I knew I had to make my own version!
My Blueberry Chocolate Protein Smoothie: Simple, Creamy Without Dairy and Sugar free
This smoothie is a go-to for when I need something quick, nutritious, and satisfying. It’s all about keeping things clean and straightforward, avoiding expensive protein powders and sweeteners filled with ingredients I can’t even pronounce.
Why This Works for Me
I use pea protein isolate because many high-priced protein powders are packed with soy lecithin, maltodextrin, and corn syrup solids—extra ingredients that are essentially toxic garbage disguised as food. They can irritate the body and skin, so buying pea protein in bulk saves money and avoids these unnecessary fillers.
I also moved away from powdered monk fruit, which had additives like dextrose and erythritol that can cause digestive problems. These fillers replace refined sugar but can cause bloating and irritation. Now, I use monk fruit drops—pure and effective, with no extra junk.
For a creamy texture without dairy, I use coconut milk. It’s easier to find and adds a smooth, rich consistency without the high fat content of coconut cream.
Here’s My Recipe
Ingredients:- 1/4 cup gluten-free rolled oats
